The Speedway NZ Board received a query relating to rule change to T10-1-23 and have clarified the following:
The Board have elected to stay with the rule change as it is currently written.
For clarification:
Any ECU may be used, but if prohibited features (traction control, torque limiting, wheelie control, etc.) are found to be active during competition, that ECU is deemed non-compliant.
In addition, there is a simple prohibited ECU list: if an ECU is named on this list, it cannot be used under any circumstances.
The rule as written:
This is an "Open ECU" class. The use of any ECU that includes features such as traction control (wheelie control, rate of gain or torque limiting functionality whilst the vehicle is operating in competitive conditions) is prohibited.
Any ECU may be used, but if prohibited features (traction control, torque limiting, wheelie control, etc.) are found to be active during competition, that ECU is deemed non-compliant.)
Any ECU capable of these features can be banned at any time and added to the list of prohibited ECUs below.
Stakeholders are reminded of the Technical Rule Change process with the submission window opening 1st February 2026. Details can be found on the Technical Tab on the website.
