| The last SNZ Update of 2009 is packed full of interesting information that should be of use to all speedway competitors and fans. There are rule changes for all Open Wheel and Demo Derby competitors (some of them effective immediately), and details of an exciting development for all Regional Class competitors, who now have the ability to have their say on proposed rule changes in their class. Clarifications for Open Wheel classes and Saloons are included, along with the sound update from last weekend, approved championship dates for next season, a full Technical review of Ministocks, and the launch of the online clearance system. | Speedway vehicles have been limited to a sound level of 95dba since 1995, and it is important that all competitors take responsibility for ensuring that their race vehicle complies with the regulations. Until now, SNZ have operated a system whereby a competitor racing a noisy vehicle initially received a warning. If the vehicle was logged again for noise during the same race meeting, the competitor would be excluded for the rest of the night. Effective immediately, SNZ is getting serious about sound. | The latest summary of news from Speedway New Zealand is now available to download. There are details of some of the international competitions taking place this summer, with Australian Super Sedan driver Wayne Belk cleared to race in NZ, and test series to take place involving New Zealand Solo and Sidecar teams. In technical news, in addition to details on the Control ECU's there is an important clarification regarding wheel stamping, and a safety harness that has been approved for use specifically with a HANS device. | Speedway New Zealand has entered into an agreement with Engine Control Systems Limited (ECS) to supply control computers for use in the sport. The option for competitors to utilise a control ECU was introduced at the June 2009 AGM, and a high standard of applications were subsequently submitted to SNZ by interested parties... Championship Entry Forms

| With the 2009/10 season underway in most places, attention soon turns towards the major championships that take place over summer. The first event is less than a month away (North Island Saloons at Wellington on December 5), and five allocated titles are scheduled to be decided before Xmas. Competitor entry forms are available on the SNZ website once they have been approved, and the results will appear on the same page when the event has taken place. Click the "Champs" tag in the menu bar above to access the 2009/10 entry form and results page. |

| Electronic licensing is proving to be very popular, with 374 competitors registering for the season via the Speedway NZ website by 31 October, compared with 205 at the same time last year. All competitors who licensed by this time were in the draw for a refund of their licence fee, and Kellie Bullock from Wellington is the lucky winner. A refund cheque is on it's way, well done! | |||||

New Rulebook Now Online!

The 2009 Rulebook contains colour pages for the first time, mainly to highlight the 12 national champions who head up their respective sections. Some of the other features include:-
The new book is designed to be as user-friendly as possible, but it is likely in a document of this size that there are still mistakes lurking within it. There is a small window of opportunity to correct any errors in the printed copy, so we would urge anyone who finds a mistake to contact Speedway NZ ASAP. |
